Efficient waste and linen logistics within a new care facility

Parc Drieën-Huysen in Vlaardingen consists of three interconnected buildings with a total of 161 apartments. The location offers eighty spacious social rental homes for residents with a low care indication and eighty-one care units for clients with somatic conditions and acquired brain injury. During the development of this modern care environment, comfort, safety and a pleasant living atmosphere were key priorities. This included reconsidering how waste and linen move through the building, ensuring that residents do not experience inconvenience.

Zonnehuisgroep Vlaardingen chose a chute system from Stansz to reduce logistical handling and improve hygiene. With a single combined chute accessible on every floor, waste and linen can be discharged easily without containers being moved through corridors and elevators. The system features a control panel that ensures safe and controlled disposal, a container carousel that automatically rotates into the correct position and provides sufficient storage capacity, and ventilation that maintains a slight negative pressure to minimise odour.

This solution ensures that residents no longer come into contact with waste containers, reducing the risk of bacterial transmission. Staff also spend less time on internal transport during their work. Separating waste streams becomes simpler and more cost-efficient. The result is a care environment that meets the needs of modern long-term care: clean, quiet, hygienic and well-organised, without distracting from what truly matters: the wellbeing of the resident.
