This way, the chute system becomes an improvement to the living environment of elderly residents.
Like many other neighborhoods and towns in the Netherlands, Schalkwijk (Haarlem) faces an aging population and a decline in younger residents. As people grow older, their living needs change, and their reliance on facilities increases.
That’s why, during the development of the Hof van Jacob residential complex—designed for elderly residents with intensive care needs—a waste sorting system from Stansz was chosen. A solution where ease of use, safety, and sustainability are central for both residents and care providers.
In close collaboration with HevoFame, Stansz developed a waste and linen chute system for two buildings within the new Hof van Jacob complex in Haarlem. Each building is equipped with a fully automatic sorting installation that processes waste streams from four floors into separate containers on the ground level.
A smart touchscreen on each floor allows users to easily select which waste stream they’re disposing of. The facility team has full insight into the status and fill levels of the containers through a connected monitoring system.
Because the waste rooms are located on the exterior side of the buildings, the containers can be emptied with ease. The system is made of stainless steel and equipped with EI60 fire-resistant loading doors, ensuring maximum safety and durability.
