On the upper floors of the hotel, the first rooms are already being vacated. Housekeeping gets to work: sheets are stripped, towels collected, bathrobes folded. But maneuvering full laundry carts through narrow hallways and crowded elevators? That takes time, energy, and disturbs guests who are just starting their breakfast.

That’s why more and more hotels are opting for a linen chute. No more occupied elevators. Instead, dirty linen disappears from sight—efficiently, quietly, and hygienically. What does a chute mean for the hotel? An invisible yet essential link in a smoothly running operation.

The Muzentoren office building is a striking landmark in the center of The Hague, standing 78 meters tall with 18 floors. In 2022, the Muzentoren was transformed into two hotels, with a combined floor area of 17,800 m². It now operates as the Moxy Hotel and Residence Inn Hotel—two Marriott brands.

To handle linen disposal for the 300 rooms, Marriott chose to install a stainless steel linen chute from Stansz during the transformation. For fire safety, the chute was equipped with 16 EI60 fire-resistant loading doors and prepared for connection to the building’s sprinkler system.

The entire renovation was carried out in accordance with the BREEAM-NL certification method for a sustainably built environment.
