Secure document disposal in a transparent work environment
The new Advisory Centre of Rabobank Westelijke Mijnstreek in Sittard was developed in 2015 as a light and open building where customers, members and employees come together in a dynamic working environment. With space for 320 employees, a reception area, auditorium, restaurant, call centre, meeting rooms, focus rooms and flexible workstations, the design by Mecanoo Architects reflects Rabobank’s vision of modern office functionality: transparent, temporary in use and always orderly.
Because workspaces change daily and must be cleared at the end of the day, there was a need for a way to dispose of confidential documents discreetly and securely, without leaving paper visible or collecting it in waste bins. A Stansz chute system was therefore installed in the office building, making document disposal simple, secure and visually unobtrusive. Employees can dispose of paper directly from the workspace through an opening integrated into the interior, after which the material is securely collected. This contributes to a calm work environment without stray information, reduces internal logistics with containers and requires minimal space.

The building comprises approximately 7,000 m² of office space across five floors. The entire project was designed using a BIM process in Revit, with all involved parties having access to one central model. Engineers and installers were able to review and coordinate remotely, supporting accurate integration of technical systems, including the chute installation. This ensures that the disposal solution aligns seamlessly with the interior, the architecture and the way Rabobank enables its employees to work in a flexible and organized environment.
