Smart Building Logistics for Future-Proof Care

In Hilversum, a new care complex is rising that’s built for the future. For Woonzorg Nederland and care organization HilverZorg, Heilijgers is constructing the new Sint Carolus: a modern healthcare building with one hundred care studios, ten communal living rooms, and 32 apartments. In the design by AG Nova Architects, the focus lies not only on comfort and aesthetics but also on the building’s internal logistics.
That’s where Stansz plays a quiet yet crucial role.

Fewer movements equals more Calmness
In healthcare environments, peace, clarity, and hygiene are key. By integrating a Stansz chute system, waste can be transported directly from the upper floors to the logistics area on the ground floor. This prevents trolleys from moving through corridors and elevators, keeping care departments free from internal transport. The result is a calmer, more efficient building that allows staff to focus on care.

Design Support for Architects
For architects, this type of solution offers greater design freedom. The chute requires minimal space, fits easily into the structural grid, and aligns seamlessly with building and safety requirements. Stansz provides BIM models, principle details, and technical advice during the design phase, ensuring the system is well integrated into the architectural concept from the very start.

Future-Proof and Efficient
The chute system contributes not only to hygiene and operational efficiency but also to lower operating costs. Fewer transport movements mean reduced energy consumption, less pressure on elevators, and a building that’s easier to manage. With this, the Sint Carolus project reflects HilverZorg’s ambition for sustainable and future-proof healthcare in Hilversum.
